The three replies to my post are illustrative of the disconnect between word and action.
I say “prove you care about the sanctity of life” by doing something about the existing orphans.
Two replies say “you do it”.
Well, I’m not the one who wants to outlaw abortion.
Two replies say “you think it’s better to kill them?”
No, I think it would be better if they were adopted by those who claim to respect the “sanctity of life”.
Two replies say “christians give money!”
That isn’t the issue, just like outlawing abortion is the solution to the problem.
One reply whines “it’s just too damn hard to adopt”.
Which is really, really pathetic.
You guys just don’t get it. It’s the disconnect between the GOP/Conservatives words and actions that are causing people who are generally sympathetic to GOP/Conservative views to vote for people like Obama.
They claim to respect the “sanctity of life” but their actions prove otherwise.
They demand lower taxes, but they spend the public money like drunken sailors.
They claim to stand for strong families, but deny gay Americans the very institution that supports it.
The list goes on and on. It’s transparently hypocritical and the American public is finally waking up to it. And until the GOP/Conservatives own up to that and align their rhetoric with their actions, the GOP is in trouble.
Screw you and your “they claim"s, you old fool, and your demand for replies.
I heartily reject your premise that conservatives must prove anything to you to substantiate their righteous abhorrence of abortion, and their stand in favor of strong, traditional families.
What you posit here is the usual leftist crap-trap.
You, and people like you, wrote and implemented the policies responsible for the destruction of the family and the skyrocketing out-of-wedlock birthrate, have vigorously and arrogantly resisted any changes to those policies with claims of “rights violations” and “discrimination”, and yet we conservatives are charged with fixing your mess or we’re labeled hypocrites unless we shut up about abortion.
to tell you that the sanctity of human life begins at ANY TIME OTHER than at the moment of conception,
or that a marriage is a legal (and to many a religious one as well) joining of ANYTHING OTHER than one “naturally born” man and one “naturally born” woman,
or that it is somehow the responsibility of the federal government to care (read - “spend your money as THEY see fit") for those less fortunate than yourself because this “social welfare” is NOT PRIMARILY DEPENDENT on the GENEROSITY of the people who live - work - pay taxes - invest in - celebrate with - and maintain the states, counties, cities, communities, or neighborhoods in which these poor souls reside…

...kick them in the ass (and then in the head) for having the “hubris” of trying to take away or redefine your values.
Unless the “less fortunate” did something for all of us (military service is a good example), all of us should not have to do something for them.
Life is about personal responsibility. You should reap the rewards of your own hard work and pay for your own mistakes, and not be raised and trained (across many generations in some cases) to expect or to be entitled to welfare from a federal government too used to spending your money too freely.
As much as I believe in low taxes and limited government, I don’t think that as Christians, there is as much justification for that as there is for protecting the sanctity of life.
Sure there is, radioman; both issues represent what is at essence human life: time. Breath after breath, heartbeat after heartbeat, time is what is granted, in individual measure, each human at their creation.
It is no more just to steal a man’s life’s-time spent acquiring wealth than to steal an unborn’s life’s time to spend as he or she sees fit.
I understand and agree wholeheartedly with what you’re saying.
I’m just saying that God will judge our country more harshly for our sanctioning of abortions than for having high taxes and too big a government.

Go to hell.
Thank you for your thoughtful and reasoned response. Your attitude and honesty are refreshing.
People like you have reduced the conservative agenda to cutting taxes, mindless anti-abortionism, hating gays and brown people, and endless war. That’s it. The whole ball of wax.
The Bush agenda has reduced the GOP to being a rump party centered in the South.
I bet you win a lot of elections that way.
When conservatives start acting like conservatives again on issues like Fiscal Responsibility, Rational National Defense, Individual Liberty, Personal Responsibility, Competent Governance and Equality For All I’ll, start voting for them again.
Until then, I’ll continue to do what I’ve always done and advocate for a return to sanity within the GOP.
OldFool, you are the worst of the worst. The ultimate hypocrite. You sh!t on everything, including the concept of classic conservatism your nickname implies.
In the time I’ve been here I’ve never seen you speak positively or constructively about anything remotely left of che guevara. You whine and wheedle and pizz and moan about everything and everyone.
Further, you challenge the conservatism of anyone on the right with your holier~than~thou bullspit.
Well, I’m here to tell you that you can take your vote and jam it up your bung. No one wants it. No one wants you.

For someone that equates anything to the left of Atilla The Hun as “liberal”, I’ll take that as a compliment.

And here’s something else.
I’ve gone along with the GOP on all those social issues you guys are so mindless about because I thought the GOP stood for the issues I care about. Issues like Fiscal Responsibility, Smaller Government, Rational Foreign Policy, Strong National Defense, et. al., all of which has been abandoned over the past 8 years. And until the conservatives/GOP start actually behaving in accordance with those issues again and governing in a responsible manner, they can kiss my ass, and my vote goodbye.
Conservative values are more than abortion, gays and war.

Jeebus but you’re thick-headed.
No one cares what you think. No one wants your vote. There ain’t a soul on this board that respects your opinion about anything. No would would GAS if you died tonight.
Don’t get me wrong - no one actually wants you dead - no one cares enough for that. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority here would applaud your exit (at least from the site).
The funniest notion is you pretending like you are somehow withholding your vote. No one GAS about your vote. Jam it and cram it and give a half-twist, k?

And folks like you think you can make the GOP relevant again without folks like me.

Alphabet Soup please!
The nature of this thread is a discussion of the place of believers in The Republican Party. Your use of profanity has no place here. Please refain from doing it again.
