DelDole: “Nancy supports the troops. The Iranian troops.”
Could be worse, Del.
Recall that in an effort to show their patriotism and support for American troops, the DNC WEBSITE had THIS pic front and center on their home page:
The problem is they’re CANADIAN Troops.
FIRST ...
They threw over the American troops, NOW it appears as though they’ve thrown off the Canadian troops. When can we expect Queen Nancy and her clueless psychophants to throw the Iraqi troops under the bus?
Do you really think that us liberals sit around and have conversations like this?
“Well, nobody crashed any planes into buildings today.”
“Oh, man. That’s really bad news.”
“Yeah. I really hate Bush. I wish somebody would blow up a bus or something.”
On second thought, you mouth-breathers probably do believe that.
Well, I haven’t been to DC since 1999, and haven’t been on the Upper West Side of NYC for awhile, so I wouldn’t know.
However, your media people breathlessly counted down to the “4,000th” military fatality in Itaq as if it were some sort of Holy Grail. The press never did that in previous armed conflicts.

Are those the only places Bush haters live? The things you learn on the internet! In any case, it didn’t stop you from “knowing” that success against terror means bad news for Bush haters, did it?

My media people? I should put one of those annoying (Laughter) entries here. And you’re changing the subject. But whatever.
Well, since 90 percent of Democrats hate Bush, and both places I cited have populations that are 90% Democrat, that’s a logical conclusion. 90 percent of Republicans don’t hate Bush, and 90 percent of Independents don’t hate Bush either. In the latter case it’s just 60%.
And I’m not changing the subject-why is the media so fixated on the 1,000th, 2,000th, 3,000th, and 4,000th military deaths in Iraq? They didn’t even do that during the Vietnam War (maybe because there were 10 times as many lives lost then). Isn’t the 3,999th death just as relevant? Or the 4,0001st? Of course not.
Anyway, it’s a well known fact that the vast majority of media people are Democrats, as well. Over 90% of them voted for Bill Clinton in 1992.
By the way, if you read a batch of Hanson’s recent writings, he stays in the “present” a lot more than he used to. He has been spending a lot of time going back to Harry Truman, who was hated in his last year in office about as much as Bush is today.
Fascinating stuff. A Victor Davis Hanson column where he doesn’t mention the Peloponessian Wars - quite a rarity.
However, there’s absolutely nothing there about success against terror being “bad news for Bush haters.” Closest thing is when he says “The common theme, however, is that one never mentions the efforts of the bogeyman George Bush,” and that’s not very close.

Then explain the lack of MSM reporting on any success in Iraq??

Even UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, addressing the Iraq Compact review conference in Stockholm, said things were looking up.
People are in denial about Iraq, still trying to win the argument about what happened 5 years ago. Meanwhile, the Iraqis have moved on and left the American public in the dust.

Well ...
I beg to differ. The MSM, specifically Walter Cronkite, gave daily and weekly updates on the total numbers of Americans killed in Vietnam. Before, during, and after HE stated on the air that the war was lost. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Better be careful. Any time I cite numbers for popularity, there are people here who demand documentation, and get all snooty when I don’t give them a dozen or so links. Sounds silly, doesn’t it, but there you go.
Most polling that identifies respondents by party show 90% of Democrats disapprove of Bush. http://www.pollingreport.com

Of course, Cronkite suffers from BDS too.[/size]
.
I know that. I remember well the nightly scrolls of the dead on NYC tv, where we lived at the time.
What I was referring to was that in this war, they make such a big deal about the “one thousand” plateau, the “two thousand” plateau, etc.
And even here on this forum, when number 4,000 came around, our college kid friend Altan breathlessly started a thread with the title “4,000”.
They made a big deal about the numbers in Nam, the numbers were just a lot bigger. Vietnam was a media war, Iraq is an instant media war. We’ve gone from telescope to microscope. When the media is weighted heavily Liberal, the scrutiny becomes intense and one-sided.
I’m not sure we can ever win another war, not in the traditional sense. That requires a national commitment and the Leftists, a fast-growing element of the Liberal Democrats, will never permit that. Between Hollywood, the MSM, academia, and billionaires exercising their thirst for domination of the unwashed masses, the Left will will ensure there will never again be a national commitment to war.
Thank You God that the Left was not entrenched in America 1941.
