House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday postponed consideration of a bill that would continue funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as a bloc of conservative Democrats balked at the high cost of including several of Pelosi’s favored domestic spending programs.

Pelosi (D-Calif.), who also faces Republican stalling tactics in protest of unusual parliamentary procedures, predicted that the complaints of “Blue Dog” Democrats would be addressed and that the bill eventually would receive unanimous support from Democrats.

“I am very confident that, next week, we will come to the floor with a bill that has the full consensus of the Democrats and hopefully can attract a large number of Republicans, as well,” she told reporters.

The Blue Dogs have objected to the creation of a program that would guarantee veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan a year of in-state college tuition for each year served in the war zones. The Blue Dogs said the House had not found any additional money, through spending cuts or tax increases, to pay for the program, a violation of pay-as-you-go rules imposed by House Democrats in early 2007.

“We have a duty as a country to tend to [returning soldiers]. But we also have a duty as a country to pay for them,” said Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fla.), a leader of the Blue Dog coalition.

Meanwhile the far left blogs are declaring war on anyone who doesn’t toe the line from their viewpoint.

By Nov popcorn is going to be in short supply.

The objection to which the WashPissed declines to include, so let me elaborate:

So what is the boy king’s objection to veterans benefits being in the bill?  He never vetoed a republican majority bill and now threatens a veto on a bill helping veterans???  You agree with that?

It has long been a standing policy of the Adminstration to keep the funding bills for Iraq and Afghanistan free of added admendments.  Democrats, whether in the majority or not, have sought to circumvent that and Bush has always opposed them.

The Dems are playing politics with this bill so useful idiots like you can run around and bleat, “SEE!  SEE!  BUSH HATES THE TROOPS!” This manuver is plainly transparent and all you have done by advancing this, is show that you have abandoned whatever scraps of integrity that you may have had left.

I’m not saying the boy king hates the troops.  I’m saying that in an election yr he would rather deny the democrats than help the veterans.  Does the boy king endorse a seperate republican bill to provide the same benefits in stand alone legislation?  NO??  No such bill exists?  Well, imagine that.

Yeah, imagine that.  It’s so damned important to the Democrats that even knowing that the Administration opposes any amendments to the funding bill, they won’t even put it up as a separate bill.

They’re playing politics with this bill and either you support them in that or are to dumb to see it.

If the results are the same, why is attaching veteran benefits to the bill a problem with republicans?

Perhaps because they are, finally, seeking to pass clean bills.

It’s a war bill, period.

A “clean” process instead of veteran benefits.  It’s the pandora way in an election year.

Go, Wrap!!!  We also need to add a new car of the Vet’s choice.

Then we need to provide a new house for them, too, although the max of $300,000 ,ay be a bit much.  I’m thinkin’ $250,000 max.

Don’t forget to add FREE medical care for life.  Mom, them, and their kids.  Plus free vet bills for the pets.

Commissary food should be free, as well as all of the goods at the PX.

In fact, if you served in OIF/OEF, the rest of your life is “on the house!”

Anything short of that is a mean, hateful, Democrat conspiracy PROVING the Libbies fail to Support the Troops!!!

You with me Wrap?  Can I count on you to support the troops by giving them free cellphones, CD’s, DVD’s, Sii’s, etc.?  AWWWWWW-RIGHT!!!

HooAH!!!

Who on this thread believe Un-Wrapped will “get it?”

See, Wrapper, it AIN’T about helping the vets.

PELOSI ONLY WANTS TO FIND A WAY TO FUNNEL MORE MONEY INTO HER LIBERAL BUDDIES’ UNIVERSITIES SO THEY CAN HIRE AND KEEP MORE “WARD CHURCHILL WACKO’S” EMPLOYED.

She doesn’t give a DAMN about military members.  Why else would she vote against each and every veteran’s benefit bill since she’s been in congress?

You have been caught with it out of your pants and on the table while you are slamming it with a golf shoe.

Now put it back in and zip up and you might feel better in the morning.

Nobody is buying your crap.
