Actually, in keeping with the thread, I was referring to Michelle Obama’s AA history.
Unfortunately for you, your response puts you in a difficult position. If you maintain that Secretary Rice and Justice Thomas, who actually know what it was like to grow up discriminated against in less than affluent circumstances (in Thomas’ case, without indoor plumbing), were incompetents moved along by Affirmative Action, you must also acknowledge that Barack and Michelle Obama fall into that category as well.
I don’t believe anyone has ever produced any evidence that Secretary Rice was anything but an excellent student, as well as an accomplished pianist. For all the talk of Thomas’ incompetence by the unhinged on the left, there’s precious little evidence that he was a less than stellar student. On the other hand, you have Barack Obama named editor of the Harvard Law Review without any evidence that he ever wrote an article and Michelle’s less than scholarly thesis.

Clarence Thomas and Condi Rice, I’m sure, were excellent students—just like most other AA beneficiaries. My comment about substandard performance refers not to their academic work but to their current respective performances in high office. I thought that was obvious.

It’s whites who created “The Great Society” which brought us Medicaid in 1965, allowing Blacks to avail themselves of free treatment paid for by White taxpayers.

I saw this in Michelle Obama’s appearances way back before Iowa & NH primaries. Thanks to C-Span, I was able to listen to campaign speeches by the top candidates & their surrogates. When I heard Michelle speak, I thought, “Who is she talking to???” “What does this message mean???”
When I heard Barack speak, I thought, “Well, he’s an eloquent speaker, but what the he** does he mean by “hope” and “change?” The substantive material was a long time coming…
Well, I kept listening, and the hair on the back of my neck began to stand up at the end of one of Michelle’s speeches. “This is a MEAN country!” “I want my 2 little girls to think they can be anything they want to be!” “Until now, I’ve never been proud of my country in my adult life!”
It finally dawned on me, they’ve got an agenda, and it has nothing to do with me, a white American woman.
After the Rev. Wright business came out, and the even more troublesome business with Rezko, Auchi, Ayers & Dohrn & Khalidi, it became abundantly clear: this is an anti-American bunch.
The Obama agenda IS exactly what Rev. Wright has been preaching. This is very serious. We cannot let this man into the White House.
I HOPE with all my heart that somebody in the so-far oblivious Democratic superdelegate crowd can figure this out and nominate the very well qualified Sen. Clinton.
It must be hard to be a part of the party with the lowest incumbent Presidential approval rating in history, and while John McCain is a lovely man and a great American (and I do mean that) - his electoral liabilites are 1)He is older than dirt 2) He has the Charisma of a Potato in front of crowds over the size of four people 3) he’s had roll so far to the right in order to beg for party support - he can’t even find “maverick” land anymore 4)he’s broke, and as W has taught us, its hard to win an election as a Republican that you don’t pay for.
It must be hard to see a Democratic Candidate who because he’s young, black (or mostly) and has a wife who’s got a healthy dose of attitude and smarts (always a liability in a candidate’s wife) should be eminently beatable . . . but because the Republican party spent the last 8 years self-destructing will be most definately be the next President of the U.S. (don’t take my word for it - but for GOP insiders, it’s all damage control ALL the time these days).
I can tell you though, the view is pretty good from where I’m standing. I suspect Michelle will enjoy looking back on this commentary while taking tea in the Rose Garden.

I find it hard to believe that the blacks are still complaining about their plight. If being Harvard educated and living as well as Michelle is, I’ll never understand her negative attitude about the USA. Let me show her the door! Utopia is just over the threshold. STOP WHINING!!!
Isn’t it wonderful to observe the consequence of education before one’s very eyes. Michelle’s experience has taught her that the bar is higher than she had thought. With more experience, she will find it higher yet. Such is the fruit of shedding one’s ignorance. Sadly, she does not see the benefit.
