Hitchens was right; her words are incoherent gibberish.

What else is there to say, Rocketman?  Well, I actually attended an appearance by Michelle Obama and heard her stump speech in its entirety, and I can say that it was one of the most impressive and honest political speeches I’ve ever heard!  She was extremely eloquent and articulate about the state of America after seven long years of Bushism and about the need for all of us to join together in healing this great nation of ours.  Instead of glossing over the country’s problems, Michelle Obama tells it like it is, and she does so with insight, passion, and candor—apparently too much so for those on the right who have been out to destroy her and her husband from Day 1.

The hall was crammed to overflowing on that day in March, and Michelle got a standing ovation from everyone present.  As a patriotic American, I was proud to be there!

Okay, you reactionaries can now all fire away for the rest of the day.  What you’ll say is utterly predictable, but at least you know that not everyone agrees with you.  In fact, my guess is that more Americans agree with me than with you on this issue, especially those who have actually heard her speak.

To be fair about it, can any member of a protected special class--such as blacks--escape from being treated as an AA hire/enrollment in our society?

Blacks do not want to be fair about it and shut down racial discrimination… that’s why the NAACP continues to be a staunch supporter of AA some 40+ years after it was supposed to have ended.

And since we’re being fair about it, had Michelle Obama’s skin been white, she’d never have been admitted to Princeton.  If you’re white and not homosexual, you actually need to have some academic credentials and a pretty fine SAT score.

Sadly, based on recent history, it’s only a matter of time before Affirmative Action puts someone in the Oval Office. Hopefully, this election cycle won’t be that time...we can ill afford substandard performance in the most important job in the world at such a critical time…

If the Jesse A. Wright DVD had been public knowledge in June, 2007 Barack would not be a candidate and Michelle’s bitterness would be irrelevant.

You continue to cite Obama’s “enormous political skill”.

Obama is a seriously flawed candidate, hustled into candidacy for nomination as his party’s party’s cnadidate for the Presidency entirely on his exotic name and his messianic oratory. Beyond charisma he has demonstrated no skills as a politician and no qualities as an organizer.  He has been acclaimed for his golden tongue, sponssored, steered and “managed” into a role before he was ready for it.

Any savvy politician would have acknowledged p front that he was saddled with two major “time bombs”, a Black Liberation pastor and a bitterly “victimized” motor-mouthed wife and done something to defuse them.  This display of poor judgement in key strategy has been followed by a display of ineptitude in his responses when these facctors were revealed.

The result is an imbroglio that will wreck the Democratic party.

Gee, it must be swell to be white.  All you have to do is work hard and you will succeed?  That’s it?  Really?  Just work hard?  Hm.  You people are truly blessed.

When I saw Michelle Obama give that speech, the crowd of white, black and hispanic folks understood EXACTLY what she was talking about.  They cheered because they were relieved to finally have a potential first lady telling the truth as they knew it.

Judging by the level of resentment toward her in this blog, the Michelle-haters know what it feels like to be on the outside margins of the group that’s having a rockin’ good time.  Sucks, doesn’t it?  But it’s ok - all you have to do is work hard, work very hard, and you too can be part of the group that’s finally being heard and understood.

Obama’s poor judgment refers to his twenty year close relationship with anti-American zealots and terrorists such as Wright and Bill Ayers & Bernadine Dohren.  There is no way to handle it; he’s simply disqualified to hold any leadership position. If Democrats had character, they’d ask him to resign the Senate.  This great country doesn’t need his kind of “leadership”.

People said the same thing about Hitler’s speeches.

Many Germans were convinced. They were very sorry a few years later.

Many people thought Huey Long was a great man and an inspiration to the little guy. Huey will never achieve sainthood either.

It turned out that both had a lot of charisma and fooled the gullible, but did not produce practical solutions.

The criticism of he-whose-middle-name-must-not-be-mentioned and his missus has always been that he is full of platitudes and has no real solutions--"an empty suit”.

Took the wife and I nine years to pay off two little BScs from middling State schools.  And that was with working during the school year and, of course, summers.  No Princeton or Harvard, no multi-million dollar house in the upscale neighborhood, no six-figure jobs anytime we wanted.  Just a lot of “root hog or die.” So I do not want to hear about it.

Hitler, Hugo Chavez, Michelle and Barak Obama....  the common thread is populism… the “chicken-in-every-pot” rhetoric that appeals to the weak, the confused, and the mentally and physically challenged.

I guess the “recent history” you’re referring to, Relish, is that of Clarence Thomas and Condi Rice, right?  If so, I agree with you:  we can ill afford substandard performance in some of the most important jobs in the world at such a critical time.

Well, we can agree she is being honest and open, and that is very refreshing. She appears to be making no deceptions regarding what she and he are wanting us to do, socialism, but with a smiley face.

As a result, perhaps we can have a more open and honest comparison of socialist solutions vs. libertarian ones. However, I am not holding my breath that Obama and supports will have an open mind to actually evaluate the options vs. just defaulting with government driven solutions which will be forced on all, especially our children.

Fellow Americans, what can we say? The Socialism of Obama does not work. Big government is very inefficient and is a burden on liberty. It’s like telling each college sports team they must have a fair and diverse representative set of people on each team, regardless of skill. American success is about the free flow of resources, not forced “fairness”.

Actually, in keeping with the thread, I was referring to Michelle Obama’s AA history.

Unfortunately for you, your response puts you in a difficult position. If you maintain that Secretary Rice and Justice Thomas, who actually know what it was like to grow up discriminated against in less than affluent circumstances (in Thomas’ case, without indoor plumbing), were incompetents moved along by Affirmative Action, you must also acknowledge that Barack and Michelle Obama fall into that category as well.

I don’t believe anyone has ever produced any evidence that Secretary Rice was anything but an excellent student, as well as an accomplished pianist. For all the talk of Thomas’ incompetence by the unhinged on the left, there’s precious little evidence that he was a less than stellar student. On the other hand, you have Barack Obama named editor of the Harvard Law Review without any evidence that he ever wrote an article and Michelle’s less than scholarly thesis.

So, IB, which is it?

By the way, come January, what are you changing your screen name to? Or will you still seek Bush’s impeachment long after he’s left office?

We have had the First Lady, the First Dog, and the First Cat. If Barack gets elected we will probably have the First Scold.
