What is this woman talking about? Only a far left wing fanatical kook who happens to be a rich elitist can’t find a plumber or a carpenter. If she’s ever in North Carolina she can stop by my bar/restaurant and I can give her 30-40 for each. I have at least 2 or 3 (especially plumbers) coming in every week giving me their business cards and asking if I need any work done. And believe me, they are handsomely paid. Last time I needed a plumber it cost me nearly a grand and the two guys were there for less than 3 hours. I had to have it done and they knew it.

This woman is a complete embarrassment!

So, they earned a lot of money in an honest way.  They donated a significant percentage of it to charity.  They paid a LOT of taxes.

How will the Clinton bashers spin this one?

So, they earned a lot of money in an honest way.

This is only the income they declared in an “honest way.”
But knowing the Clintons, they’ve got another couple of hundred million stashed in the Caymans, Switzerland or Lichtenstein that they’re not declaring.

They donated a significant percentage of it to charity.

But were they Clinton “charities?”
I’d be very surprised if they gave that money to the Boy Scouts or the Salvation Army.

They paid a LOT of taxes.

Too much for people as rich as they are.
Which leads one to believe that they’re either too stupid to hire financial advisers to help them with tax shelters or they’re hiding even more undeclared income and it’s a ruse.
If Billary were Bush, they’d have themselves audited.

How will the Clinton bashers spin this one?

They make me want to vomit.
I not only think they’re lying, but I think that both of them have used the White House as a lucrative career move, which no previous President and First Lady have done ever.
The fact that they’ve released these tax returns show just how desperate the 2 of them are to get back in the White House.
It’s not just the big bucks, it’s the power for this pair from the depths of HELL.

So they earned 109 million in recent years, they are only reporting about a half million a year on their Schedule B?  Between taxes and their spending, do they save such a small fraction of that money, or do they have the rest of their money parked in municipal bonds?

Between them and the Obamas, it is a mystery to me how people can be such high earners and get off so lightly on reportable dividend or interest income.

They paid a LOT in taxes???? Are you high? They paid 30% in taxes. I pay 30% in taxes and I grossed $52,000 last year. I thought you left wing nut jobs wanted the rich to pay more in taxes? The intellectual vacancy of the left is stunning!

I remember that originally Bill Clinton stiffed his Monicagate lawyer, Bob Bennett.  Was that ever rectified? Has he refunded any of the people who contributed to his defense fund?  Just curious.

Thank god the country has been going down the drain these last eight years under Bush according to Hillary or the Clinton’s would have made billions. Plus a casual perusal of their taxes showed they were only too happy to keep the the antichrist tax breaks. The best part supposedly is they gave their 2006 charity donation to themselves via their foundation. A foundation I might add they don’t have to tell you a thing about. How Clinton of them!

The “charitable” contributions are impressive, but…

Exactly what were donating to?

Was it the Clinton Library and Massage… well, you know…

What was fascinating about Hillary’s comments regarding skilled tradesmen on Leno was her explicit intention to use them primarily for green projects such as installing solar panels and windmills.  Yet another example of how the elite can appropriate the language of the common folk in flyover country, but understanding that language and properly applying it, to say nothing of understanding commoners, is quite another matter.

That conservatives give far more to charity than liberals by an incredible margin should be shouted from the housetops throughout this campaign.  As Dr. John Lott’s recent column to that effect pointed out, Sen. Obama gave a relative pittance to charity in 2006 while VP Cheney gave nearly 70% of his income, nearly 7 million dollars.  This is no surprise to those who understand political philosophy.  If you believe that it’s government’s job to take care of everyone and everything, its hardly surprising that you’d give little or nothing to those in need.

Ah, Mike you broke the code!  The CLMP has such high maintenance costs for hygiene that it must cost them a fortune to keep the sheets and potties clean.  And those revolving doors need new bearings every week with the fishing tours (aka hookers) on heavy visitation schedules.

Then, think of how much they are paying to convince Bush to rename the Lincoln bedroom for them… separate baths for Bill, Hillary, Monica, Jennifer, etc....  quite a renovation needed.

People, I detest the Clintons politically as much as most here.  However, I’m involved in charitable work in Africa and know for a fact that the Clinton Foundation does some pretty good work there.  And ten percent of $109 million ain’t chump change.  How many of the rest here donate 10% or more?  (I did 15% last year, throwing in some field work in Uganda as well).

Their charitable work (primarily by Bill, likely from guilt about doing nothing about Rwanda) cannot be faulted, no matter what their innumerable other sins may be.

The Clinton’s effective tax rate is much higher than others in the $10 mil income range, but that is because most people in that range are getting a portion of their income from capital gains and dividends, taxed at a lower rate.

Their charitable contributions, at over 9% of income, are roughly triple the average of those in the same range though.

However, as Jen suspected, in at least 2006, all of their contributions were to the Clinton Foundation.  Charity does begin at home, after all.

Jay Leno: “They asked Bill Clinton why he gave so much money to charity, and he said, ‘She’s a really good dancer.’”

;-)
