There is much more here than just the presence of this pastor in Obama’s church. There are the hundreds of attendees there who were cheering every bitter word the speaker uttered; they were the “village” that raised the Obama family and shaped them.
After Rev. Wright has left the podium and the auditorium is silent, there are Obama’s friends visiting in the halls, echoing the same sentiments; there are Sunday school classes, the youth counselors with their children to mold, all teaching this same philosophy.
We left a church once that had many pastors come and go because we did not want our children to grow up among the members of that congregation. We found instead a church capable of raising up solid families and well-adjusted young people. Why didn’t the Obamas choose to do the same?
