Big city mayor.
Detroit.
Sexual peccadillos, lying, and coverup.
First name: Kwame.

Did they HAVE to tell you it was a Democrat?

The AP article from the Atlanta JC site didn’t mention his party affiliation at all. Might as well make it a cardinal rule to their annual Stylebook.

At least at the mayor’s press conference, he had his lawyer and not his wife standing next to him.  No matter which party he belongs to, in the future if a wife is dragged on stage to stand next to a cheating husband, I’d like to see:

1. Him with a black eye; and

2. Her carrying a large cast iron frying pan.

And just once, I’d like to see the press cover it fairly--but I’m dreaming.

I was born and raised in Detroit. It was a great city. It began its long decline under Mayor Cavanaugh in the sixties. The July 1967 riot was the beginning of the end. Politicians made the determination to not protect property and the city was a goner.

John Nickols tried to revive it in the early seventies with STRESS; Stop Robberies and Enjoy Safe Streets. Detroit police officers pretended car trouble in some of the toughest neighborhoods, when thugs attempted to rob them they were arrested.

Predictibly, it was called racist. The cops soon retreated to Ft Apache type neighborhood-watch mini-stations and the game was up. People have been leaving since the liberal political ascendency of the JFK/LBJ years; it’s become a huge, very poor reservation, run by thugs, for the benefit of thugery. The current Mayor is the chief thug, not that the media has noticed until recently.

In 1998 my Dad passed away, my mom, left alone in our family home on the east side (8 Mile/Kelly) was mugged. The police told me to move her out; they could not protect her.

I did, she lives in my home now. She’s safe. So goes the American dream.

I have never been able to understand why it is impossible for liberal politicians to grasp that EVERYTHING depends upon law and order.

If the government does not provide safety for people and their property, there is an inevitable slide into poverty and chaos. Look at Europe after the collapse of the Roman Empire. Look at the lawless days of the old West. Look at many of our cities today.

I am not hopeful the problem will ever get solved. Too many politicians (mostly Democrat) are incompetent and corrupt. Our opinion leaders continue to peddle rehabilitation and counseling as the cures for all the “anger”.

I just sent an email to CNN about their current web piece on Mayor Kilpatrick and its curious absence of party affiliation - watch, they’ll change it later. This tactic has become obnoxious and tiresome. What bias?

Already a thread on this, but I guess the Bot doesn’t really know that.

The liberal press always gives the Democrats a pass.

But they put Eliot Spritzer on the front page and he resigned within 48 hours.

Yeah, but they didn’t identify him as a Democrat.

Yes, they did, here and here, and here and here.

Yeah, but that was after he was resigned. They no longer had to defend the Party.

Well, they called him a Democrat.

Yeah, but they didn’t call him the Antichrist.

LOL! “Spritzer”. I like it.

First of all, an examination of the fifteen ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening news shows in the 3 days after the “Spritzer” scandal broke finds he was called a Democrat just 20% of the time — twice on CBS, once on ABC, and never on NBC. On the other hand, in two recent sex scandals in which GOP pols were involved (Vitter and Craig) the same sources identified them as Repubs 100% of the time.

http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/rich-noyes/2008/03/13/while-no-d-eliot-spitzer-vitter-craig-always-tagged-gop

Likewise, the first USA Today story on the “Spritzer” scandal never once IDed his political party.

http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2008/03/11/usa-today-never-labels-spitzer-dem-tags-craig-vitter

And two foreign outlets actually labelled “Spritzer” as...a Republican. A third, the BBC, initially IDed him as a Dem, but later removed his party affiliation.

http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/seton-motley/2008/03/13/media-finally-label-spiter-oh-wait

Let’s not forget that the “objective” news media wanted to bury the Clinton-Monica story altogether, until Drudge broke it and they had no choice. If Clinton had been a Republican President, they would have beaten him to the punch.

You are dreaming, but I like the idea! What is the matter with these women? Stand by your cheating man! I just couldn’t do it.

Well, yea.  But there are already more than eight thousand whiny, leftist comments from you on this board, but that doesn’t mean that there is not always room for one more.

I have to tell you Chuck, I have Vlad on ignore and I try to avoid it when someone quotes him, but in this case...you gave me my biggest laugh of the day! Thank you!

Kilpatrick has been in the news as one of the superdelegates who will select the Democratic Party’s nominee this year.

Once I saw that it didn’t involve some sort of weird gay sex I kinda figured it wouldn’t be a republican.

I was going to say “Sorry for the typo,” but you just had so much fun with it, didn’t you?

Fact remains, when Republicans are caught in a scandal, the right wing response is “Democrats get a pass.”

When a Democrat gets caught and is plastered over the news 24-7, the right-wing response is “They didn’t identify him as a Democrat.”

Reality is, Spitzer resigned within 48 hours and Larry Craig is still in office. I’d sure hate to tell my wife I paid $4,000 for a hooker, but I’d hate a lot more to tell her I got caught cruising the men’s room at the airport. I suppose I could say that Republicans get a free pass for anonymous gay sex, but that would be pretty silly, wouldn’t it?

Let’s not forget that the “objective” news media wanted to bury the Clinton-Monica story altogether, until Drudge broke it and they had no choice.

LOL, and then they had “no choice” but to rub our noses in it day and night for the next two years.

LOL, you’re a major shareholder in Maytag, right?

But, BUT ...

At his FIRST press conference (not really because he took no questions) after the text messages were made public, he DID have his wife by his side as he acknowledged the sexual affair with his “chief of staff”.

Left OUT of all of this is the fact that the CITY will now have to pay off a NINE.TWO MILLION DOLLAR wrongful firing lawsuit won by the cops King Kwame fired for investigating the party at his city-provided mansion.

ALSO ...

Left out is the fact that the stripper hired to perform at that very same party mysteriously turned up DEAD a few weeks later - MURDERED, thus rendering HER unable to testify against the “Hip-Hop Mayor”.

I TOO ...

Was born in Detroit.  Thankfully, my parents had the foresight to move the family to Arizona prior to the ‘67 riots.  Detroit has TWENTY TWO THOUSAND vacant and burned out HOUSES that serve as crack dens, whore houses, etc.  It is a disgrace.

So much for black leadership.

Nov. 4, 2008: The Day The Music Died.

“Bye-bye, miss American pie.”

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage.
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan’s spell.
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite,
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died.

Rocky,
I missed that press conference.  It was touching, in this one, to hear the man who had time for thousands of steamy text messages to his girlfriend, now declare his first concern is to get back to working for his constituents.
