Having nearly two decades as a police officer behind me, I can relate stories about similar mistakes that would turn hair white overnight.  I am not, therefore, shocked, shocked, to hear about this mistake, but I am surprised that it was so quickly corrected.

One might think that with such a high profile criminal involved, a bit of extra care would be taken, but as John Belushi would have said:  “But noooooooooooooo!”

Jeezz for the party of responsibility you guys sure don’t like taking responsibility for anything.

Again, how does the ineptness of a department, run by a republican, who was appointed by a republican, prove anything but the ineptness of republicans?

Please explain to me how it is that when republican’s screw up, it’s the democrats fault.

People tend to see what they want to see or not see what they dont want to see. In this case, You’re just blind!!

As Pandora said, it isnt a matter of what party is in charge. The segway is easily made because it points to putting health care in the hands of a bureaucracy. This story illustrates the ineptness found in them. I wouldnt want health care put in the hands of a government agency run exclusively by republicans, either.

But it IS the Dems who seem to think that government is the answer to ensure ALL are taken care of. And I say “seem” because I cant believe even the Dems are stupid enough to not see that everywhere there is a bureaucracy, there is injustice. People fall through the cracks, there is reverse discrimination, and when the government helps someone, it must take from someone else to do it. They HAVE to see this, yet to be SEEN as compassionate ‘givers’ they are willing to do anything and everything, no matter what the consequences. It’s about power.

That said, as the republican party moves away from conservatism, it lowers itself to the same level. Principle is the only elevated platform that provides one to see over the heads of greed and power hunger that make up the political crowd. Most Democrats and an ever increasing number of republicans have lost their vision altogether as their focus becomes about just being a part of that crowd.

Thats politics… the Great Corrupter. Even those who enter politics out of a genuine desire to serve and make a positive difference, must compromise principle just to stay in the game. And over time it changes them. A principled man cannot handle looking in the mirror every morning when he knows that the day before he betrayed himself and the people he serves. So he justifies and rationalizes it away. Thats human nature.

So how could we possibly trust those who would put our healthcare in the hands of such a system. Governement is needed and has its place. But, as long as “We the People” continue to feed it’s power and allow our politicians to keep our focus on electing those we think will do the least lousy job managing things they shouldnt be doing in the first place, we dont have grounds to complain about the ineptness.

This story was a fine opportunity to take a jab at the other side. But it should point at our system as a whole. As Americans it’s ours, it’s the best going, and we need to own it. When we’re in the middle of something, it is often difficult to maintain perspective. Once in awhile we need to step back and look at the big picture. And we cant rely on politicians to do it… they are too busy keeping their jobs!!

How? The post refers to a beaurocratic mistake. The responsibility for this mistake falls on those in charge. Those in charge were Republicans. I merely pointed this out.

Nowhere in the original post is any of this mentioned. What the post does is take a Republican blunder and tries, weakly, to link it to Democratic governance.

How is pointing out a Republican blunder a fine opportunity to take a jab at the other side. How about taking responsibility for said blunder.

pitiful.

“Corrections", in California and elsewhere, is an incestuous, good old boy network that rewards mediocrity.  Trying to break through that barred ceiling for an “outsider” is damn near impossible.  Thus, mediocrity is its own reward - it keeps the smarter and better educated out of the ranks of professionals who don’t have the time or desire to begin at the bottom rung.

You got THAT right!!

My dad put himself through school and earned his Masters degree in Psychology, while working three jobs and raising three small kids. He started as a parole officer and worked his way up through the system over the years as Psychiatric Social Worker, Treatment Director, Security Director, and Warden.

He was offered Commisioner of Corrections job and accepted. The Governors lacky met with my dad at a po-dunk restaurant one morning and asked him to forget that he was offered the job because the Governor was getting pressure to hire a black man as Commissioner. They created a new position between the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner to put my dad in. The Governor wanted my dad not to worry as he would get to do the job of Commissioner, but would do so behind the scenes and was sure dad would do that for him for the greater good.

The “greater good” of what??… or whom?

The black man put in that position had worked for my dad in one of the prisons several years earlier and had no experience to speak of. He died of a massive heart attack several years latter.

Dad hated the politics and eventually took the job of Director of Institutions in the state Im living. He ended up having to deal with politics here as well. He was mandated by the State to abide by the over-population caps in the prisons and the judges were going to hold him in contempt if he refused to accept more inmates into several of the alreay over-populated prisons. Residents scream because they dont want a prison built in their comunities and then screamed when he developed the plan to ship inmates away from their families to privately owned prisons out-of-state.

It was a measure that dealt with the over-crowding and actually cost less than the State-run prisons. Meanwhile, the politicians diddled themselves trying to make EVERYBODY happy and too spineless to do what needed to be done. This happened in the early nineties and just this year they voted to build a prison. It will be half the size the professionals deemed adequate to address the problem IN THE NEAR TERM.

Stupid politicians serve stupid people. And we sure are stupid!!

What the heck does any of this have to do with the original post. The post makes a simple statement:

One more thing. A vote for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton is a vote to put these people in charge of your health care.

Unless I’m missing something “these people” refers to the people responsible for the California Department of Corrections. These people are REPUBLICAN APPOINTEES. Now if they had been appointed by a Democratic Governor then you guys would be all over it.

If “these people” are republicans, then how the heck does voting for Hilary or Obama (unless they start to appoint republicans while in office) a precursor to Democratic failures.

The post is an EPIC FAIL.

Way to go!! As if noone saw that a mistake was made. Yes, republicans make mistakes TOO!! And no… what you “merely” pointed out was that since republicans were in charge in this instance, it shows cleary that republicans should never be in charge.

If it was worth the time, there are countless mistakes that have been made by BOTH dems AND repubs. BUt more interesting than that, would be to look at how many times either party has attempted to cover up or sidestep their mistakes.

Mike made a great point. They identified the mistake and acted to rectify it. That says something about those in charge. Their character… not their politics!!!

Why do *I* need to take responsibility? The officials in charge TOOK responsibility and acted. They made a mistake and acted to rectify it! The blunder was obvious. YOU, found in it an opportunity to show your colour and say that because this mistake was made, it proves YOUR opinion that no repub should be in charge. You’re a moron… and ignorant! Thats MY opinion.

pitiful.

Pathetic.

So according to you because the officials took responsibilty and acted quickly to resolve the issue the bureaucracy worked?

Wow I guess you can have it both ways.

Right......

Yessss, right.

Rand and I both addressed your point, twice each.  You keep wanting to make it solely about how Republicans always bad, Democrats always good.  Neither are either, (although Democrats think the government is God).

Conservatives don’t want either in charge of administering the medical treatment in this country.

Harry, don’t be an ass.  That gets you put on ignore, by everybody, and then you have no one to talk to.

HUH? LOL Not that I understand this drivel but I CAN address the last comment. Being that I believe in my fellow man as I do, if the tables were turned Im quite sure one of my more intellegent dem friends here would be taking a republican moron to task.

I dont see this as dem or repub issue. I see it as a ‘big governemnt fails and Obama and Clinton want to just make it bigger’ issue. As I eluded to earlier. If it were repubs wanting to put healthcare under government management, I would count them as morons as well.

“These people” are government employees. And regardless of their political orientation, they make mistakes. Even if they want to do what is in the best interest of the citizenry, they are all too often hampered by political whim and fancy. Id go on but I get the funny feeling that to you, capitalism is that evil thingy that creates evil rich people. To explain why the public sector succeeds where government control fails, is obviously over your head.

Me thinks I’ll move on.
