And let me add a few more specifics to my last post:

Anyone can publish themselves, can start a blog, build web apps, build facebook apps, can produce music (almost studio quality), can start a radio station, and on and on.  All for such a minimal cost (again, due to the internet and low cost computers and free programs) that no one can claim that they were “held back” by anyone for any reason.  This is so much opportunity in this world, for everyone, that it is almsot obscene to hear people complain about their failures being the fault of others.

. . . Luckily, as I mentioned above, people can get educated at no cost, these days ... if they want to. . .[my emphasis]

And that’s the point: “If they want to.”

Rush just cited an article from the American Thinker,

American Thinker Article

in which Ed Kaitz compares the experience of Vietnamese immigrants and native ‘blacks’ in New Orleans.  The Vietnamese succeed wildly; the blacks don’t.  Why?

“We’re owed and they aren’t.”

Jim Geraghty’s “The Campaign Spot” on NRO posts the following:

Survey USA Sees Huge Wright Fallout

Survey USA has some dramatic numbers, illustrating the Wright fallout for Obama.

In Alabama, Obama had been down 14 to McCain. Now he’s down 27.

In Minnesota, Obama has gone from up 7 to down by 1 percent.

In Wisconsin, he’s gone from up 11 to up by 4 percent.

In California, Obama’s lead actually increased by 3 percent (to 14), but here’s the biggest shocker. In Massachusetts — the state of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Michael Dukakis, Barney Frank, etc. — Obama’s gone from up 7 to a TIE.

Now, I don’t really expect McCain to win Massachusetts this fall. (One reader wondered if this number was a reflection of voters’ hangover/buyer’s remorse over Obama’s buddy, Deval Patrick.) But the idea that what was considered one of the bluest states in the nation could be in play has to keep certain superdelegates up at night.

UPDATE: N.Z. Bear notes that since the Obama story really caught the public’s attention, March 14, about 30 percent of all blog posts on the Internet mentioning “Obama” have also included the word “Wright.” In the two days since the speech, the percentage has remained stable. He’s got a really neat graph found here.

The Barack Obama campaign has been engulfed in controversy over racist and anti-American sermons given by his minister and friend, the Rev. Jeremia

» View the article

In the NY Times, Nicholas Kristof notes that some 30% of blacks polled believed the AIDS as a White plot conspiracy as an example of how little white folks know or understand black
folks. Many of the bloggers in response to the article noted the Tuskegee “experiment” of injecting black men with syphillis has a good reason for this. That would make me think twice, too.

However, here’s another subject and one a lot more recent and one which Obama and Hillary support unequivically: abortion.

In NYC, the Republicans way to combat crime was to vastly expand and improve police protection and law enforcement, especially in the neighborhoods of “color” - resulting in thousands of less murdered black and hispanic people per year.

Which, in NYC has actually led to less arrests and less jailed young black and hispanic men. Not to mention a lot less crime victims.

The Liberals method of decreasing crime? Abortion. Let’s eliminate the potential problem before it takes a breath. A sort of voluntary genocide.

Why haven’t the good “Christian” ministers spoken out on this?

The best thing McCain can do as President is to see that school vouchers are passed in Congress,

Wrong, it’s the worst thing that could happen. Any school that accepts vouchers will have to toe the line when it comes to federal regulation. And think of the possibilities for the ACLU.

“While the FDN’s war is barely a memory today, black America is still dealing with its poisonous side effects. Urban neighborhoods are grappling with legions of homeless crack addicts. Thousands of young black men are serving long prison sentences for selling cocaine—a drug that was virtually unobtainable in black neighborhoods before members of the CIA’s army started bringing it into South-Central in the 1980s at bargain-basement prices.”

10 years ago (a decade) Democratic Representative Maxine Waters was screaming about this.  Was she the chair of the investigating committee in 1997?

Bottom line:  What happened?  What did Maxine find out?  It takes a lot to stop Maxine’s screams yet, on this particular subject, she’s been as quiet as a little church mouse for 10 years.

I’ve had a number of African immigrant students over the past few years. Except for some of the Somalis who have lived here long enough to become disenfranchised with America (but they’re not returning to Somalia), the vast, vast majority of the students from the other African nations are here because:
1 - they can get an education; in many of their home nations you need to be a member of a given tribe, male, and/or wealthy; if there is public education, and everyone can go,the student-teacher ratio can reach 100:1 (Kenyan immigrant source); there’s no infrastructure to train teachers.
2 - Opportunity factor - they know they can succeed here - why, “America is not a racist society.”

This data is from the mouth of dark-skinned immigrants. Native born, dark-skinned people who choose to believe the worst about America should try living in Asia, any Arab nation, other parts of the Middle East or even parts of Europe - just for six months and see how bad racism can be.

When so-called black leaders prey on the lack of success of blacks, it would be nice if someone would ask the following: In what other nations are there:
1 - the myriad of black entertainers making tons of money? Oprah, Denzel Washington, 1000s of vocalists, authors, actors? No where.
2 - successful black athletes with the earning power of those in the United States? No where.
3 - more black surgeons than black athletes? None.
4 - black generals minus those in African dictatorships? None.
5 - opportunities for education, at someone else’s expense? None
6 - Republicans who voted for the Civil Rights Act far more than the Democrats but the blacks insist on voting for Dems, not the people who put in place the laws that removed barriers. None

Unfortunately, too many black youth are saddled with whitey’s guilt and don’t realize that there are prizes for the taking but they have to WORK for them and EARN them. As far as I’m concerned, leaders, black or white who tell someone they cannot do _____ because they’re 8 generations removed from slavery is just lying to them.

About all these posts that say in one way or other “well people can make choices, etc., etc.” In some of these inner city situations, it’s simply not always true. Choices are being made for two year olds; ie, kids are entering their third year already terminally f-ed up. We’ve got to keep trying to intercept that.

The Founding Fathers feared that the country would long have to live with the after effects of slavery. And they were right. The country simply has to keep plugging away at it. That surely doesn’t mean that we have to accept race hustlers and their ilk.

Few more points regarding the racism in America
1 - It was the white, British abolitionists (Christians) who forced the British Navy to blockade the slave trading ports in Africa - they stopped the slave trade.
2 - American is the only nation (I believe) that has made slavery illegal; that is, outlawed it - thank you Republican President, Lincoln.
3 - Arab Muslims were running the African slave trade 700 years before the Europeans got in the “business” - where are the free African descendents of those slaves? No where - why, maybe b/c most were eventually eliminated.
4 - Who sold Africans to the Arabs and Europeans? Do you really think the European ship captain pulled into port and said, “Hey, come on board - I’ve got a deal for you?” Give me a break - coastal African tribes were in the slave trading business for hundreds of if not over 1000 years before the Europeans ever appeared in Africa.

We are lying to our children, all children of any shade, by ignoring these basic facts: slavery has been in every culture for 1000’s of years; it was the white Christian who finally said, “Hm, created in God’s image, all men, maybe we better do something about this African slave issue.” My paraphrasing and I’m no fundamentalist.

This a what Obama calls a “typical white person.”

Interesting that North was found “not guilty” by a jury of his peers ...
... all of whom were “typical black people.”

And to think he never demanded to have white jurors!
What was his defense counsel thinking?

Eran, those are two excellent posts, thank you.

It’s wearying to have to keep repeating such information over and over.  I wonder why the left never appears to tire; lies are harder to maintain.

You’re making one of Obama’s points; to wit, the US can change. We’re not done yet.

* This quote has been attributed to Mark Twain, but it has never been verified as originating with Twain. It may have originated with Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92) who attributed it to an old proverb in a sermon delivered on Sunday morning, April 1, 1855. Spurgeon was a celebrated English fundamentalist Baptist preacher. His words were: “A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.  http://www.twainquotes.com/Lies.html

Patrick,

You missed my point. Obama, Wright, Jackson, Sharpton, leftists, etc. and their ilk do not want to change - they keep harping on race, using it to divide Americans instead of uniting them. IF race were not such a core issue for the left and its mouths, they wouldn’t raise it all the time. They would stop spewing victimization and racial hate.

Obama has been well described by Shelby Steele. We don’t know what or who Obama believes. His words are empty pabulum - they say nothing. All he wants are more social programs ala the 1930’s - none of which have helped the blacks improve. What works is education and WORK. With the left, including Obama, it’s about power, money and control. One wonders if he wants racial neutrality or not. Their rhetoric or avoidance of those who preach anti-American talk, each in their own way fire up and anger, plays on white guilt and nothing changes.

Remember, Obama took off his flag pin. Maybe we now know why.
