On the contrary, I thought that his chances were slim, but now that the wingnuts are pulling out all the stops in attacking him, I think he chances are pretty good. If he were so damaged, our hosts, and you, would not spend so much time lying about him.

Uh huh....

The trouble with your “analysis” Barney is that YOU liked Obama MORE when you found out about his preacher’s lunatic rants because you AGREED with them.

Most people don’t.

Hmm… Thanks for telling me what I think. Let me try it on you - you’re thinking “I’ll let a n*gger in the Whitehouse over my dead body”. Did I get that about right? Or is claiming that you know someone else’s unstated beliefs a ridiculous and dishonest mode of political debate?

Full disclosure: I’m white. Not sure about how typical I am.

BHO’s pastor and Obama’s reaction have lost the election and possibly the nomination for him. His pastor might be the only person who could save the situation.

At first it seemed brilliant of Obama to campaign in generalities. Now he might be better off if he had more substance. Now things like “typical white person” stand out. If you’re trying to distance yourself from a bigoted pastor, that is not a good phrase to use.

Now we know for sure. He doesn’t do well under pressure.

One wonders how much his supporters believe in BHO’a candidacy, when they treat this incident as another chance to lecture us on race. This is determining how a lot of people will VOTE. This is not about getting face time on TV to lecture the supposedly racially unenlightened.

can you imagine if hillary or mccain had said that the pastor or anyone else for that matter is a “typical black man” ?! they would have been forced to step aside and THEN burned at the stake.  why is it that, at every turn, barrack gets a pass ?

Elite white guilt works wonders for race hustlers, it’s a magical thing.

For two reasons I think:

1) Your premise is faulty
2) He’s talking about a member of his own family

Obama wrote in his book of the incident involving his Grandmother, which he now mischaracterizes. According to said book, she feared one black panhandler in particular, who harrassed her just short of a mugging at a bus-stop.

Really, I’ll have to re-read my autographed copy.

Mick730 Posted: Just curious, but what does Obama want to do to rectify America’s horrible racial situation? Here we have Obama, who has become a millionaire after only a few short years in the US Senate, along with his wife, who earns a base salary of $350k per year as a PR person for a university run hospital, living in a mansion in Hyde Park, wailing away at how mean, awful and racist a country America is in 2008

No wonder-according to the Obama’s- nobody can afford health insurance. Somebody want to explain to me what a university hospital needs with a $350,000 per year PR person. She didn’t happen to be awarded that job after her hubby became a purse string controller in the State Senate?

I would also like to thank Obami for running for President. Without his candidacy I wouldn’t have been aware that their were people like Reverend Rage and his merry band of reprobate backslappers. I think I may have to start considering more closely whom I do business with. I wouldn’t want to reward a whole group of people that believe in what the Reverend Rageman is selling. Way to work on that whole unifying issue Obama.

Seem a little harsh? Well too bad, all I have ever done is work my butt off, put myself through school and treat everyone I have ever come in contact with respect. Then one night I turn on the T.V. and find out I am the problem. You damn right I’m pissed. I suspect many others like me are pissed off too.

You watch, when the-Obama-one doesn’t win this thing, the inner-cities will be looted and burned. Then I can turn on the T.V. and find out that it’s all President Bush’s fault “because he hates black people”.

Perhaps it is as the LA Times posits:

“Obama the ‘Magic Negro’

The Magic Negro is a figure of postmodern folk culture, coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, to explain a cultural figure who emerged in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education. “He has no past, he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist,” reads the description on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro .

He’s there to assuage white “guilt” (i.e., the minimal discomfort they feel) over the role of slavery and racial segregation in American history, while replacing stereotypes of a dangerous, highly sexualized black man with a benign figure for whom interracial sexual congress holds no interest.”

Short, short memories.

“Typical WHITE Person...”

For 50 points, which presidential candidate did the MSM excoriate for WEEKS when he went to the NAACP convention and used the expression, “You People” in his speech?

Tick.....tick.....tick....

Here’s how the NYTimes covered Perot’s speech to the NAACP.

Not exactly ‘excoriating’, wouldn’t you agree?

Methinks you haven’t the slightest idea what “slander” means. And I am totally over the characterization of his grandmother as someone to be pitied, someone he has wronged. God forbid he take issue with the fact that she openly admitted to fearing men who LOOKED LIKE HIM.

There’s not a woman on this forum who wouldn’t be afraid if a young black man dressed in gang attire was walking behind her going down the street.  Especially if she were alone.  And they’d have a solid reason for that fear, not an irrational hatred: a disproportinate number of men fitting that description are in prison for rape and/or murder.
