Sheesh, Harry. Is everything a conspiracy?

“Hippy, you think everything is a conspiracy.”

“Everything is.”

Wow that really isn’t real is it. I mean come on, a “political case” still under appeal (no court transcripts have been released yet, I guess they type slow) and here we have the Communications Director thanking John.

The larger media or “liberal media” are ignoring the really weak character assasination of Jill Simpson because so much else does not add up.

Thanking John for “catapaulting the the propaganda” you just can’t make this stuff up.

LOL

Sheesh, Harry. Is everything a conspiracy?  Here’s how the transcript thing works.  The steno types and types and comes up with the proposed transcript.  It’s proposed because stenos are human and may miss things or spell things wrong or not hear things just right.  So the proposed transcript is submitted to the attorneys for the parties.  They review and then sign off.  Once the parties agree, the transcript is official and released.  It is, however, not unheard of for the steno to lose days of notes and recordings, or fail to release them in a pay dispute.  In a long and complex trial, it takes a while.

I’m afraid that if you are LOL over this one, you are LOL alone.

P.S., I’m still waiting for your post telling us all that you have filed a complaint with the Alabama Judicial Standards Commission.

Your friend, Big Al

1. So How long did it take to get the transcript?
2. Oh look Transcript turned up yesterday after the 60 mins story
3. Transcript shows up after people start asking questions about appeal after 60 mins story
4. Appleal can’t happen without transcript (see we in AL are not holding it up....well we are until the questions started.....frig....)

Tell me AL, in comparison to Dan Rather, where did this wonderful POWERLINE post go? The post went nowhere.....was it the liberal media.....was it the evil NY Times......was it the CLINTONS.

Nope it was the morons who overplayed their cards.

1. They withheld the transcript ohoh wait a minute:

prosecutors used testimony from the transcript in their response to Siegelman’s request to be released on an appeal bond.

The defence of course does not yet have a copy.

Whew I’m glad they didn’t have any issues like say the defence. (this is a joke right.....)

2. They refused to go under oath
3. They cried liar from the safety of newsrooms not courtrooms
4. They refused to present documentation from the JD and WH but told all reporters to just believe them.......it was all true.

And someone, somewhere said BULLSHIT. Give me a courtroom, give me the documentation, give me the stuff you have to backup the BS

crickets..............

That’s why PL blog post went nowhere.

And then the figgin “commuications director” thanks them for posting bullshit about a criminal case.

You all are forgetting that this case is not about Simpson, Fuller or anyone else, it’s about the guy in jail.

Now, no one has asked me if I think he’s guilty (weird eh). I happen to think the guy should rot. However other people commited what could be called the same crimes and this came out during the trail.

Wow Harry have they been charged....no they had an R after their names and the judge (R) declined.

WTF

No I really mean WTF.

And yes AL one of these days we will sit down with a beer and you can explain to me how you defend this crap.

Your Friend (beerly not politically) Harry

Conspiracies seem to be Scott Horton’s stock in trade, whether it’s about Gov. Spitzer, Bilal Hussein, Scott Beauchamp, Haditha, torture or some other vast right wing imagined misdeed.  He relies on innuendo as opposed to facts and seems to be one of the primary drivers of the current Siegelman fiasco to draw Karl Rove into it.

When you look closer, what does he have?  Has Dana Jill Simpson used Karl Rove’s name under oath?  Not during her testimony to Congress.  That would have been a great time to pin her down wouldn’t it?  Why wasn’t she asked?  Why should Karl Rove be expected to testify about this matter if you have allegations by some woman who has not even gone under oath about it and whose allegations are denied by those involved.  The answer is of course that Congressional Democrats would love to get Rove under oath for a fishing expedition about all sorts of matters and this is just another transparent attempt at it.

Ms. Simpson has phone numbers in Virginia.  Surely by now somebody has traced who those numbers belong to.  That is a simple matter.  To they implicate Rove and the transition team or not?

I think Rove’s conclusion that CBS is a shoddy operation is right on the mark and Scott Horton is a shoddy lawyer and commentator.

The ability to influence attitudes and behavior with distorted facts and lies by a malignant media entity like CBS is very dangerous.  “Powerline” should never let them off the hook.

How true! People who do not have the time nor inclination to delve deeper into issues are indeed influenced by shows like the 60 Minutes. The interviewers and interviewees are good actors.

Edited to add: I’d have abandoned CBS entirely, if it weren’t for my NCIS!

May I suggest someone fire all the pertinent posts on this topic to the folks at 60 Minutes? I would like to see how they respond.

FCC Asks About ‘60 Minutes’ Blackout
March 4, 2008 - 3:56pm

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Federal Communications Commission is investigating why an Alabama television station went dark during a Feb. 24 broadcast of a “60 Minutes” installment.

The blackout occurred on WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Ala., during a segment on imprisoned former Gov. Don Siegelman that suggested he was the victim of a Republican conspiracy. The station blamed the outage on equipment failure.

Republican FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said Tuesday that the agency had received “some 20-odd complaints” regarding the broadcast and had told staff to send a letter asking for an explanation of the incident. A “letter of inquiry” is routine when reviewing complaints against a station and is the first step in an investigation of a broadcast licensee.

The letter was sent by mail and by fax Tuesday afternoon. The station has 30 days to respond.

WHNT general manager Stan Pylant has said the problem was caused by a malfunctioning receiver.

The station aired the tail end of the roughly 13-minute segment once the signal was restored, and it showed the story again in its entirety during a newscast later that day and again the following day.

Siegelman, a Democrat who was Alabama governor from 1999 to 2003, was convicted of bribery and obstruction of justice charges in 2006. Federal prosecutors had accused Siegelman of naming HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy to a hospital regulatory board in exchange for $500,000 in donations to Siegelman’s 1999 campaign for a state lottery.

The “60 Minutes” story suggested Republican politics was behind Siegelman’s prosecution and imprisonment, a claim prosecutors deny.

Democratic FCC commissioner Michael Copps on Monday said he had asked the chairman to send a letter of inquiry to the station.

The FCC could consider the results of the investigation when it renews the station’s license, but Martin warned against jumping to conclusions.

“I don’t think is fair to speculate about what might or might not have occurred,” he said. “We do have some complaints but we’ve also asked the broadcaster to respond to this.”

I’ve worked in numerous Alabama campaigns at both the state and federal level.  I also worked directly for one governor as an lower-level appointee.  I’ve never heard of Jill Simpson before this.  I know of no one who has.

The sad thing is, it appears she never started out making any of the accusations the Democrats so desperately wanted.  Only after repeated questioning, and staffer pressure, did the more “sensational” claims come out.  Those Dems ruin everyone they touch.

They also want Rove (tangetially involved only on hearsay from a nut) to testify, but not Siegelman (directly involved no matter how you slice it).  What hypocrites.

Then there’s the “blackout” conspiracy about the Huntsville station, which was just equipment failure.  The station asked for, and received, permission to re-air the piece TWO MORE TIMES!  This means that market was actually exposed to this piece more than any other market in the U.S.  Yet the Democrats want to hold hearings on this “conspiracy” also.
