I seem to remember McCain is a senator. (Though he couldn’t manage to get to a recent important vote!) Well, let him put his money where his mouth is.  He should start introducing bills right now to seal the border, drill in ANWR, get tough on ALL illegal immigrants, and the other items of concern to those he wants to vote for him.

What’s stopping him?  Come on, he’s supposed to be a ‘maverick’.  I want actions, not more words!

Those clicks your software just didn’t record were the clicks that I didn’t use to not watch video of McCain making a mockery of you schmucks.

My friends, you can intellectualize BS all the way to the ballot box, but you’ve still gonna have BS.

Note to the GOP and their heir apparent:  maverick candidate, meet maverick voter.

Well Said Komrade Vasily.

Senator McCain humbled himself for the first time - since well, I don’ KNOW when - and still the long knives are out.

It was an excellent speech.  Sen. McCain hit all the marks.

Now ...

Let’s move on to something a helluva lot more entertaining like lampooning and bashing HillarRamaBama.

“Bye-bye, miss American pie.”

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage.
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan’s spell.
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite,
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died.

I beg your pardon, Jaun, but you’re going to be the one proud to have English as your second language if your pal, Juan McCain, gets elected.  And as a, so far, freeish American I’ll complain whenever I want and about whatever I like whether you, Jaun, think I should or not.

Oh, and by the way, don’t you ever get tired of being the bully on the block?

No way will I vote for someone who’s taking the US to war for Israel.

I will. In fact, as much as I can’t fathom voting for McCain, his pledge to protect Israel is likely to make me vote for him.  Protecting Israel protects us, you fool.

Not only is your logic for taking the US to war for Israel circular, it’s demented.

The speech was conciliatory and transparent.  What it didn’t really say was what his positive agenda is.  He said all the things he will not do as president.

We can boil it down to three things: making the Bush tax cuts permanent (whoopee doo), ending the AMT (oh yes, that’s a winner) and winning the war in Iraq (not sure what that means really).

The democrat president will not exit Iraq (but they’ll be in power and it will no longer be an election issue) and there is a good possibility that the conflict will slide into the politically mediated military confusion that was the Vietnam war.  So Democrats will really have the quagmire that they so desperately wanted George Bush to drown in.

Anyway a McCain truce (notice he did not mention the immigration running-sore) might allow a civil, organized presidential campaign but he cannot beat Obama or Clinton (his fellow senators, also lacking in executive experience or substantive ideas).

He has one thing the others don’t have: the maverick self-destruct button.  I’m just wondering how and when he will press it.

Juan.
You’re right!  Well, one out of two...and I have to tell you that I have a hard time getting along with people who call me names all the time.  It gets real old real fast.

However, when your man or either of the other two Donks gets elected and when you’re asked to lodge a few of our new, immigrant families in your house or garage by our compassionate government, I’ll be big hearted and won’t say a word.

McCain did bring up immigration, and actually laughed, so I can only conclude he finds conservative opposition to amnesty amusing.  What I heard was, in so many words, “yes, I know you all believe in the rule of law, so I’ll close the damned border for you. <smirk, smirk> But when push comes to shove, I’m John McCain and you’re not, so suck it up and vote for me because I’m the true conservative.”

I wanted to vote for Thompson but never got the chance.  But because McCain is going to get the nomination, I am not going to shoot myself in the foot and either not vote or vote for a Democrat for the first time in my life.  We would all be wise to take the best we can get and encourage McCain to move right.

Remember, if conservatives attack McCain, McCain will owe us nothing and will see no reason to kiss our backside.  Be smart!
