Its pretty easy to go to an Army/Navy store and pick up a surplus uniform. Especially one of the original BDUs, like this guy is wearing. Were he active today, the uniform would be different. We are supposed to assume that this guy is a real soldier, but protesting and covering up your face is dishonorable. No real soldier would do something like that. I doubt that he is real. But I am sure that he is an idiot.
I just watched the Iraq Veterans Against the War group speaking at the rally yesterday. 8 or 10 dressed in full combat uniform speaking against the war and calling on the anti-war protesters to use their energies toward “social justice” as well.
I don’t have a problem with veterans from Iraq speaking out, or even wearing their uniform while they’re speaking out. At least they’ve earned the right to tell their story, and if they had a bad experience then - like the man said - war is hell so it makes sense that some of the stories would be hellish.
But if they’ve got a uniform on, they’d damned well better be a vet or they deserve to be pants’d (or worse) in front of everyone, pink ladies and real veterans combined.
I am not saying that protesting is dishonorable, but wearing one’s uniform and covering up one’s face is dishonorable. No one is saying that EVERYONE who has ever served in Iraq is for our effort there. But why do those who are against it get disproportionate coverage over those who are not?
Silly me, I already know the answer to that. We are talking about the crowd who found Kerry credible and nearly all the officers and men who served with him (i.e. the “Swift Boat” crowd) NOT credible.
As a vet, I will say to other vets: be against it all you want. But be up front about it. And don’t say things that are untrue. And don’t be taken in by the left, when they embrace you as long as you are saying what they want. They despise you nonetheless, and will turn on you as soon as you stop saying what they want.
On the whole, it doesn’t seem to have been a bad day for the forces of good.
Good point. The A.N.S.W.E.R. rally appears to have garnered some good publicity in support of the movement to end the war in Iraq bring the troops home.
May there be many more such consciousness and awareness-raising efforts.

Brilliant satire, FS.
Oh, you were SERIOUS?
Each one of these ANSWER rallies has attracted less and less people. This one had between 5,000 and 8,000 according to all news reports I’ve seen.
Contrast that sorry figure with the 400,000 people at the anti-Vietnam rally in NY City in April of 1967, or the 100,000 who marched in DC later the same year, or the 500,000 who marched in DC in November of 1969. ANSWER has never gotten anywhere near those numbers.
Sorry, the glory days are over for the aging 60s leftists. For an absolutely hilarious report on how bad it really was Saturday, this guy was there:
In 1967 the Vietnam war had been going on for 7 years, what do you think the protests will look like 3 years from now when the this war will (may) be 7 years old? in 1964, 4 years into the war, the protest were small as well and grew as the war dragged on......
T’is like Vietnam all over again.
Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.

So what are you saying? That we shouldn’t fight?
The WOT isn’t Vietnam and Del is right: the group gets smaller with every “rally”.
The least I can say if that from the video and pictures I’ve seen, the anti-war movement certainly doesn’t believe in a policy of attraction;
I’ve never seen a more unattractive and nasty bunch of “people.”
My particle favorite was a guy with a shaved head screaming “Fascism.”
He apparently was preparing to be made a Fascist slave because he’d already had a ring put through his nose.
I estimate that the ANSWER protestors numbered about 8000. Their last demonstration in March was about 10,000. A couple years ago they could pull in 40,000 to 50,000 but no more. The anti-war movement is losing steam.
Looks like we have a forum of blind patriots here.
You spend so much time ranting and raving about ‘the moonbats’ and the ‘anti American hippie types’ that you miss what’s really going on at the rally. It’s called Democracy in action and our ancestors and family members died for it.
Please use the flag for it’s inteded purpose as a symbol of freedom, not as a blindfold for fools.
The war has jumped the shark and no one really cares anymore on either side.... Except the fringe on the Left and , like this sight, the fringe on the Right.
I agree that the Lefties care but, where is the caring in this place? You all seem pretty stuck in your disdain for the Left but seem to be missing the fact that our government, (a la GW and pals), are eroding the very foundations of our country. Not to mention creating one heck of a divide in the process. You have members of your own party, GOP?, members of the military, (from privates to Generals), sounding the alarm about what this war is doing to us as a country and you hole up here smirking about the Lefty activists and their foolish die ins. Get with the picture guys. The sh*ts hitting the fan while you’re all slapping each others backs.
IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY!

The sh*t hit the fan 9/11 but don’t worry----we got your back--for now.

They’re fighting and dying for it this minute, you fool. Whether you appreciate it or not.
Since even ol’GW admits that Iraq had NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11.
Please tell me who’s dying for what and where?
Please don’t give me your tired out line of, “if we don’t fight them there, we’ll fight them here’. They never wanted to fight in the first place. We went into a soverign nation, toppled it and now the place is a bloody mess. Who in their right mind wouldn’t fight against an occupying force that you felt threatened your country / region?
The only thing that’s threatened is our credibility with the rest of the world. We’ve gone from foreigners exclaiming USA is #1 to foreigners saying, DIE USA, GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST!
You should really listen to the only really sensible member of the GOP, RON PAUL. He’s got it going on.
IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY!!!!
