In defense of Odette. I’ve had many discussions with her and honestly never had a sense she was in any way antagonistic toward Jews. Not very bright, but not antagonistic toward Jews either. There is one thing about her though: she is a bit of shiker and after a few she really doesn’t know what she’s saying. So let’s judge favorably.

This is Shmuels Friend reporting from track side. It’s been nip and tuck all day, a real seesaw battle. As we approach the home stretch “no” is in the lead by a big hooked nose but “yes” is right behind moving at a nice easy pace and looks like he’s get plenty left for a late charge. At this stage the race is still a toss up, but I’m putting my money on “yes.” All the Jews have probably already voted for Shmuels Friends and gone home, but the bars are still packed and when they let out the “yes” people will stumble home to their computers and push “yes” across the line first. Anyway, that’s the way it looks to this punter.

Which reminds me of that famous story when Casey Stengel testified before Congress while Mickey Mantle sat next to him waiting for his turn. The great Casey double-talked for 15 minutes.
