Was there a poll to ban “g.a.b. Seems like he was banned by the Mods, and no poll was offered. Shmuels Friend post used a similar word AND involved someone’s mother...scheesh!?!
If Shmuels Friend isn’t banned over this, then “g.a.b.†should be allowed back NOW!!!
As I recall, g.a.b. is Christian not Jewish. Coincidence?
Looks like to be fair about, imnho, ban one only? If you are going to apply the rules fairly, then both ought to be banned. Or neither. Whatever is done to one ought to be done to both.
imho.

I say ban Schlemiel and his Friend. I haven’t read every one of his posts, but IMHO he detracts from the forum. (It’s rarely possible for anyone to make a worthy contribution.)
So is this new Forum where we go to vote people off the island? What of the “banning people at our whim” policy that was mentioned during the earlier uprising?
And Mr. Malchow, what about your concern about “how cliquish it can sometimes seem here”? Just my own curiosity, here.
Sorry, Folks, Couldn’t Resist A Perry Mason Moment...Or, Att: Everything You Say Can And Will Be Used Against You Dept.

..The modern state is almost 60-years-old and has one of the greatest armies in the world, equipped with nuclear weapons, so I’m told..
Didn’t look like much of an army at all last year in southern Lebanon, and they were only up against small Hezbollah groups. ’W‘ gave Israel plenty of time to finish the small Hezbollah groups off in southern Lebanon, but the Israeli ground troops looked like they didn’t even want to be there, and were not about to confront Hezbollah in their stronghold in the Bekaa Valley.
You want to blame Israel’s leadership, but it sure looks like the majority of Israeli’s have lost their will to fight.
Hezbollah even calls that war last year - “a divine victory.” And, recently, warned Israel about attacking them again:
BEIRUT, Lebanon—The leader of the militant Hezbollah group warned Israel on Tuesday it would face a “big surprise” that could shake the entire Mideast if it invades Lebanon again. In a speech to mark the one-year anniversary of the cease-fire that ended last summer’s war between Israel and Hezbollah, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah also reiterated claims that his group possessed rockets that can reach any area deep in the Jewish state.
Your glee wouldn’t have anything to do with your insistence that I be banned, would it, Seabiscuit?

Oh please. Get real.
Well, Odette, there is always this to consider…

The parsha begins with war and ends with war. The first war described in the beginning of the parsha is against an unknown, unspecified and unidentified enemy…

Shabat shalom. Wonderful to have both a Torah portion and a Bible verse series going.
I have no shred of anti-semitism in my being. But it does make me wonder when g.a.b. was unilaterally banned for a particular lack of decorum, and JMalchow is reluctant to apply the same standard to Schmuck’s Friend for virtually the exact same lack of decorum.
I love my Hebrew brothers and sisters. But I hate religious nepotism when and where it exists. Not saying it exists here, just asking the question.
All right, so obviously Schmuels Friend’s post was provoked by a blindside vulgarity as well.
Mitigating? I’d say yes. Without a doubt.
Oh for heaven’s sake.
If that sort of trash talk justified any sort of vulgarity on Shmuel’s part, every liberal on this forum could get a free pass for doing little except swearing.
Not that I think Shmuel should be banned for it; I just think he can’t justify his actions with TT’s idiocy.

No, no, please let’s keep the fact that I’m Jewish out of this. I know it has absolutely nothing to do with the motives of all these fine people, especially not you, Racketman. It’s just pure coincidence that my biggest detractors here, including you Racketman, are the same people who’ve been cheap-shotting every post on Israel I’ve put up here in the last 6 weeks, often using vulgar ad hominem attacks like Titans’. Irrelevant. Pure coincidence.
mm43 has a point. I’ve called vlad worse (and my posted comments about vlad are much more sanitized expressions of how I “really” feel!). It’s not like anyone has the “personal responsibility to choose” what to read and what to ignore. For those who I have offended, if I respect you I will apologize, if I don’t respect you - hold your breath.
Have you given SF an opportunity to repent? Have you looked into any “str_replace” code?
It’s your forum to manage. If you feel responsible for the content here, then it is your responsibility to take away a person’s choice of what to read and what to ignore. You may also simply tell complainers “grow up and grow a thicker skin”. You decide if someone adds to or detracts away from the discussion, or you may simply cancel recess.
This “voting off the island” exercise is way too much drama.

There are free (absolutely free) dictionaries available online so you could find out the difference between “justify” (your amusing word) and mitigate. Up to you, of course.
Why do you say that? I’m just asking the question. There is a discrepancy as to how two extremely similar situations are being treated by Joe, whom I happen to respect a great deal because of his admin acumen and level head. I see him being inconsistent here, and am wondering why. People engage in nepotism all the time. I’m wondering aloud if that is the case here; not accusing.
Is wondering aloud whether nepotism is taking place making you aghast because the subjects of my question are Jewish? Apparently, I hold Jewish people in higher regard than you do.
