Hey, I support a repeal of the nationwide ban on using all kinds of drugs. Which makes me the only morally consistent one here.

After all if y’all are gonna cry foul about banning cigarettes from public places, y’all can’t say banning smoking pot is perfectly fine either.

I can’t stand the smell of cigarettes.  But I can’t stand the smell of farts either.  And I’m not in favor of banning farts.  Maybe I should be....

As a non-smoker, I like smoke-free environments, but I think the business owner should control what he allows in his business.

As a physician, I agree with people quitting smoking, but I am against a government mandating it.

As a pathologist, I am aware that both tobacco products and marijuana are pretty damaging products, and both affect mood and mentation.  In a fair world, they would probably be treated the same way by society.  However, as a father, I am also aware that marijuana was a first step for my older son in his pathway into drugs and alcohol that almost killed him, and so I have my feelings about it.

I’m not a smoker and even I am mad at this fascist act against smokers. If smokers want to ruin their health then that is their problem not the states!! There comes a time when the smoking bans are just too stiff for the public. Oreo cookies are worse for you then smoking, should we ban them too? I can understand tough laws on drugs like pot and cocain etc., but the tobacco is something that Americans enjoy dying from. The jobs don’t pay well at all and now the state wants to take away the form of death many Americans want to die from!

I don’t take a “moral view”, myself, but I agree with you on soft drugs.

I went out today to purchase a new cigarette case, a nice lighter, and a tobacco pouch.

Target? No.
“Target doesn’t sell tobacco products or the “paraphernalia.”

Sears? No.
“Ditto...”

Penny’s? Nope.

Dillard’s? No, sir-ee.

WalMart (gag)? Yes. They have one cheap fabric case for $4.97.

Why do I single these retailers out for mention? Because I have bought each of these items from each of these retailers in the past. But, the anti-smoking zealots have a bigger impact on their bottom line than do the profits from the products.

I have no problem with that. It’s called capitalism. Unfortunately, that “ism” is being overruled by another, liberalism. If market forces were in play, they’d still be on sale.

I mention this only to make the following point. ONLY LIBERALS FORCE THEIR MORAL CODE AND WAY OF LIFE ON THE REST OF US.

Tobacco “paraphernalia” is the proof. BTW, have you tried to buy a firearm cleaning kit lately?

BTW, My Dunhill tobacconist was able to fill my entire order. The other stores lost a $300 sale.  That, too, is capitalism…

BigTex, if ‘hispanics’ were clamoring for tobacco products or firearms cleaning kits, WalMart would have sixty different varieties of each, with bi-lingual labels and aisle-signs.

WAAAAH. My favorite retailer chose to not sell smokes and it had absolutely nothing to do with the power of government! IT’S LIBERALS’ FAULT!

BigTex, as much as I find everything you have to say here loathsome, I still encourage you to quit smoking for your and your family’s sake.

I’m with you on this Progress.

And before anyone brings it up, I am aware my guy supports a nationwide ban ob smoking too. I am NOT happy about it and it is giving me pause for thought.

I will give Dear leader Obama the same level of support and respect that the Democrats have given President Bush the last 8 years.
