I’ve been out of the forum for at least six months so I’m trying to catch up and excuse me for not reading up before jumping in. However, I am a Guest Worker and I have been for almost twenty years. I was a Guest Worker in Iran working for Bell Helicopter for three years. Then on to Indonesia for another six years with Bristow Helicopters a British company at the time. Onwards to Yemen, Pakistan, the UAE and now in Nigeria.
I can not begin to explain how much I enjoy being a Guest Worker. For so many of you who don’t seem to understand the Mexicans and other South Americans who come here mostly just want to be Guest Workers too.
The Washington DC Politicians are the ones screwing this whole mess up and it is all to serve their own agenda and to hell with the Country who elected them and to Hell with the Mexicans because they couldn’t care less!!
Only the News Media can ever have a chance to stop this nightmare. Not a single person in this forum or any group has a chance of getting America back to normal.
I’m telling all of you unless you are from another planet, we need Guest Workers just like Europe and Australia and Africa and every other part of the world. What we don’t need is 20 million more South Americans and Mexicans or Africans becoming Citizens of the U.S. and changing our way of life and our political two party system.
Make everyone who wants to work here become legal over night, let anyone who wants to come here to do jobs we don’t want to do, let them come. BUT, never let them become CITIZENS never.
They are not going to stay away because we won’t let them become citizens, no, they come to work and make money and live a better life! The same reason I’ve been a Guest Worker the past twenty years.
Stop the Politicians, Stop the Liberals who live in their Ivory Towers and will never have to live or work with the Third World workers they want to become voters for them to stay in power. Save our system save your way of life and save the future for our children.
I understand Wrapper’s are pretty young and not well educated regarding the rest of the world so I’m going to help you out. The greatest number of workers in Singapore are like me Guest Workers. They can work and live there as long as they like but they can never ever become citizens.
Canada, UK, France, Spain, in these countries almost anyone who enters can become a citizen. They have all changed their governments to something very different than before the Second World War.

What you say makes complete sense to me. Even the legal immigrants from Latin American countries, once elected, are changing our government into something less-than-traditional and very unsettling.
Singapore. Hmmmmm. Isn’t that the country that canes children for vandalism and executes drug dealers and is rather repressive in other respects as well? I think the U.S. is and should be better than Singapore.
Well, we are; we don’t cane children or execute drug dealers. Why do you seem to believe that allowing people to come and work for a short time only and then they must leave is somehow wrong?
It’s a contract; they come and work, then leave. We allow them to come and work and see that they leave.
Pandora is exactly right but the Politians don’t get it. Look you are all being hoodwinked, ever since FDR was president the Democarts have used the same formula for their success. The more uneducated, feeling sorry for them selves and blaming all their problems on someone else the more votes the Democrats get and stay in power. The truth is the Democrats could not care less about the poor or the underpriviledged they only want the power. Examples of the past few Democrat presidents, Carter and Clinton and president want to be’s such as Kerry and Gore. These people are all telling the great lie, that they care. Is making 20 to 50 million non Americans citizens to allow them to vote, going to help our country become better than it was in 1957? We should not for our own benefit, turn away Guest Workers, we need them to make our country strong but we do not need make everyone who crosses our border a citizen. Why is it the democarts have no desire to help the thousands of Canadians who want to become citizens in our country? Is it they are not the right demographic?
I think the initial poster has a very good point, but that is the argument for the status quo, more or less. However, it seems people are not satisfied with the status quo and it not just immigrants becoming U.S. citizens that they object to. Furthermore, if you mainly object the immigrants becoming citizens, then you should be just as concerned, if not more concerned about the numbers of legal immigrants this country accepts every year. Right now that number is over a million people a year. It is much bigger than the illegals and growing. I read recently (at Wikipedia I think) that the U.S. accepts more legal immigrants every year than the rest of the countries in the world combined! If true, an amazing fact that could lead us to who knows where. Perhaps we should be rethinking all matters of immigration, not just the illegals part.

I am concerned about the numbers of legal immigrants we’re allowing every year, which is one part of the status quo I’m unsatisfied with, and, of them, why our officials keep insisting a majority be from third-world countries. The question of illegals -well, they’re illegal.
The guest workers are not a problem; however, we do not trust our politicans to adhere to the law and that’s the status quo that needs amending.
A.Tom, which status quo part were you referring to as most objectionable?

I’m not sure I had anything in mind, I just know that everyone has their own reason(s) for objecting to the presence of illegals. Making the illegals legal is not going to make most of the people who are unhappy now any happier. What we now have is a sort of guest worker program which operates by itself with no documentation of anything. I’m not sure giving them legal status one way or the other is really going to help anything. The people who are coming to engage in criminal activity (beyond illegal entry) are going to keep doing what they do regardless. The only thing I feel confident in is that people will stop coming when they can’t find work (at that point only the true criminals will come). That could happen because we figure out how to control the access to the job market by illegals, which I’m not sure we’ll ever do or it could happen because there are no jobs (more like, say, France) in which case we are all in the ####.
A_Tom and Pandora are both right just keep in mind none of this situation was brought about by us Citizens. You get want you elect. The political field in America is getting very scary and once they are elected into office they seem to make decisions based on what they want not what American’s want!
What American ever wanted our country changed and taken over by immigrants who never did anything to make our country what it was before all the illegals started coming in? What American wants to celebrate some one elses holidays and disregard our own?
This is a dangerous situation and each of you needs to do more than just talk on the Blog Site. Pay attention to the politians and what they are voting on and how they are voting. Write to them and tell them you’re watching and you too will vote them out of office is they don’t start thinking about your needs!!!
We need the workers, does anyone not understand that? We do not need more citizens does anyone out there not understand why? If and when we have another World War and who ever joins our ranks to fight for this country and risk their lives for this country then they should be the first to become Citizens but not because some politican wants more votes and distroy our Country from within.
You don’t have to fight in Iraq, you don’t have to set at the border just pay attention and let your Congressmen know you are watching and you will be voting. We have to stop the madness in DC. It in fact most likely is too late to stop the flood. At first it was just L.A., now it is in almost every large city in America. Next it will be in your neighborhood or next door or across the street. Try walking your streets without running into some Banger with a Pit Bull. When I’m home I’m in Atlanta and the changes on the Streets over the past ten years is very depressing I’m sure it is similar in your Cities as well.
I am not in favor of low wage nomads travelling back and forth between the U.S. and Mexico. I am not in favor of denying citizenship to emmigrants who live and work here. I think most of America is with me on that.
You know where you can find other countries who have large quantities of foreign labor who live in host countries but are denied citizenship? Smack dab in the middle of the Middle East and all them Muslims. We should be better than that.
Wrapper, I apologize for the comments. You are not uneducated in fact you could have a Master in some field. It is American’s in general who have so little understanding of the rest of the world and how we fit in that world.
Yes you are right about Singapore. But the other side of the coin is, at 3am you can walk in any street including back streets in Singapore and survive. You can leave your wife and kids living in Singapore and go off to a job in the jungle and know they are safe. You can get hurt and receive some of the best medical care in the world.
If you elect to focus on protecting criminals so be it. In my opinion that is what is worng with America today there is too much worry about criminals and not the victims. So, some kid who distroyed everyones mail box in their neighborhood got three smaks with a cane. It was reduced from twelve to three. And you think anyone dealig in drugs gets executed, that just isn’t the case. However, if you discharge a weapon in the act of commiting a crime yes you will be hung. Over there the only people worried about the things you mention are the criminals. Not a single good honest citizen is worried in fact they are thankful they live in such a safe place. And you think there is something wrong with that. You kinda remind me of Portis the running back who feels as long as you fight the killer dogs in your own compond it is OK. Or, why pick on Vick just because he is making dogs fight to the death, leave the boy alone.
Sandbox, I can assure you I am doing more talking with elected representatives than venting on blogsites. And emailing. And faxing. And jogging my associates into similar action.
My state representative have recently complained that promising the publication of their voting records constitutes ‘threats’. I’m sure that sentiment is not just a local one. Well, they can just stuff it, at least until they pass a law against such activity.
Soap box, ballot box,...... There is a third ‘box’; but the first two methods are not completely exhausted yet.
Well, thanks Pandora and A_Tom and so many others on this Blog Site. Not to scare any of you but you are all in such a small minority along with me. You are smart, concerned and worried. I’ll give all of you an insight; Politicians are scared of people like us. They pray no one ever pays them any attention and just goes with the flow. So few people actually contact these guys so when someone does write them or email them with your real concerns and a complete account of who you are and how you many be contacted for your expected reply they hate when that happens. Everyone wants you to think you can only be heard when you vote that is bull. You can be heard every time if you use your email or letters. When putting your concerns in black and white they respond.
The thought for 2007 is, what is the greatest threat facing humanity? My opinion it is the Main Stream News Media.
