If the europeans want to rise up and ‘fix’ the problem with islamists, they will first have to get rid of almost all their politicians and government officials.
And most of their journalists, business class and diplomats. Throw out the European Union officials in Brussels.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada has had an increase in their Jewish population for the first time since most english speaking jews left in the 70’s and 80’s due to the separatist movement. They come from France.
The only solution I see that could have any bearing at all on what happens is if we see moderate muslims rising up and throwing the heads of the radicals and a few imams over the walls of the banlieus. I doubt that happening though.
First, as Mark Steyn has already said, what matters is who breeds and not just how many are bred. What he misses is that this maxim applies to sub-groups as well as groups. Say you have a society consisting evenly of two types of people. The first group are the eunuchs. Each eunuch couple averages less than one kid (I’m using “eunuch” as a put down, not as a fact, obviously). The second are the high testosterone/high estrogen types. Mr. Testosterone and Mrs. Estrogen average about 3 kids. Thus, the average woman may have 1.7 kids, but by the next generation the whole demographic profile has changed.
That’s what happens in the U.S. (and everywhere else for that matter.) The Eunuchtarians and Episcoplians may average just one kid per couple, but the Mormons - a much more conservative, less PC, and higher testosterone bunch of folks - are having 3 kids per generation. I have no great fondness for the Mormon religion - I’m an ex myself - but I love their reproduction habits.
Europe will respond. It will respond. The eunuchs will all die off and - more importantly - so will the generation that feels all so guilty about colonialism and the holocaust and all the rest. Hopefully the response will be humane and appropriate (i.e., expulsion). Islam and Democratic society can’t exist peacefully. It has nothing to do with alleged assimilation. When I was a kid none of the Muslim girls I knew ever wore a veil. Today I see them everywhere. Even in the U.S. they are dis-assimilating.
Europeans are currently intoxicated by pleasure and materialism. They have a government that (in some ways) is too efficient - efficient at policing small slights and ignoring real crimes. When a large Muslim dependent class begins to make the society poor and a large Muslim voting class makes government inept and corrupt (more so than it is today), Europeans will have nothing to do but revolt.
What I also find discouraging is that no one has responded to Peters indictment of European hatred. Everyone, everywhere is prone to hatred - and Europeans are no different. Hatred is a useful survival mechanism. If it weren’t, if all it caused were senseless deaths, then it would not have survived in the genome. When Spain kicked out all the Jews and Muslims it did so because Muslims had been fighting with Christians in Spain for centuries, and Jews had supported them. Christian Spain wanted to insure its survival and get rid of a potent political threat. The same can be said for the Crusaders in Jerusalem and probably in Budapest as well. And of course, even though he said he doesn’t gloss over Muslim excess he does. He doesn’t mention the millenium of invasions of Europe by Muslims (730-1683). He doesn’t mention the slaughter in St Sophia when the Muslims conquered Constantinople.

Hopefully Mr. Martel you have followed Mormon reproductive habits. Unlikely though.
I think that help may come from the East. Europe is dying but it isn’t dead. Perhaps the Catholic Poles will rise up and save Europe just as they did in the siege of Vienna.
Has it occurred to anyone that perhaps the Europeans have tried the path of “Stand up for our nation and destroy the hated foreigners” already? Look what it got them.
One of the key problems that is going to arise is from Muslim takeovers of nuclear states in Europe, first on the list, I would guess, is France. According to publically available information, France has some 300-400 nuclear weapons in the KT range, several missile submarines, a carrier or two and nuclear capable carrier aircraft as well. Recent estimates are that the military in France is 15% or more Muslim today. What about tomorrow?
There is absolutely no evidence that any European country has even an ounce of will to defend themselves, and haven’t for nearly a century. They have been spiritually poisoned by socialism/communism. Dealing with this threat would require 10 times the intestinal fortitude that resisting Hitler would have required, had France, for example, actually put up a fight. France is now far far weaker than it was in the 1930’s – both militarily, and psychologically. I just don’t see how these jellyfish could summon the will to defend themselves under any circumstances.
Rather than looking at Europe as a whole, and somehow deducing that it will not allow itself to be over run by Islam, I look at one example of a European country that seems ready to cross the line into Dhimmitude, and extrapolate that much of the rest of Europe (and indeed, the West as a whole) looks prepared to follow. I look at France.
If the French people do not yet get the idea that the underpinnings of their society are being dismantled under their noses by Islamic fanatics with complicity from their Leftist government, they never will. Without decisive action France will eventually fall to Islam, and it seems that the nation as a whole is content to sit by and watch it happen. The Islamic threat is so palpable there, and yet the French government and citizens continue to worship at the shrine of tolerance and diversity. France is behaving suicidally. If they don’t get it now, when will they?
Other major European countries have their own Islamic problems. Few seem prepared to see the threat for what it is. In varying degrees, we see European countries trying in futility to “manage” Islamic society within their European borders. And these attempts to “manage” Islam are carried out with sensitivity and tolerance as the measure, rather than pragmatism and self-preservation.
As a whole, Islam is advancing in Europe, while Europe retreats and capitulates. Violent uprisings over perceived slights against Islam and its prophet are becoming commonplace. Riots in Muslim neighborhoods erupt with only the hollow provocation of contrived Muslim outrage. In Norway, entire communities are effectively under Islamic Sharia law, and local authorites are rendered impotent as a result. Islam bombed Spain into electoral capitulation and installed a Leftist government, soft on Islam. If a nation dares take a tough stance, like the Netherlands “burka-ban”, they are met with vehement and often violent resistance.
Western societies are unwilling to see the intrinsic weakness of Western culture that the Islamic fanatics see; tolerance and diversity are a powerful weapon against the West. In fact, tolerance and diversity are the ultimate weapon against the West. Until Europe and America abandon tolerance of Islam, and devalue the kind of diversity that Islam brings to the table, we will never be rid of our Islamic enemy.
To bring it closer to home, here in Minnesota, we have half the population wringing its hands over the “flying imams”. The alarm-sounders in that situation did exactly the right thing, if pragmatism and self-preservation is the goal in dealing with the Islamic threat. Yet many people, (now, seemingly led by our new “first Muslim in Congress” Keith Ellison) are more concerned that we tolerate Islam and celebrate diversity, than they are concerned with pragmatic self-preservation.

One can only hope that when Europe’s time comes the Dems are in charge so that we neither come to the aid of the natives, nor to evacuate the invaders should the natives find a spine.

This is a straw man argument Vlad. You are making a point about xenophobia. But logic and self-preservation dictate that we discern true threats, and discard fear over false threats.
Catholic religious doctrine did not call for the absolute submission of non-Catholic Americans at the edge of a sword, and the destruction of all who would not submit. The Catholic church moving their center of political power to Cincinnati would have been unacceptable to our fledgeling Republic; Catholics emigrating to America and integrating into American society was not. Non-Catholics had little to fear from Catholic immigrants, and over time, Catholic immigrants to America proved this to be true beyond question.
Non-Muslims have very much to fear from Muslim immigrants, and all we need to do is look at Europe to see that this is the truth. Individual Muslims may integrate into Western culture, but the religion of Islam never will.
Western tolerance provides a perfect haven for Muslims who wish to practice their religion; the problem is that in practicing their religion according to their holy book, they cannot integrate. They must remain seperate, and in fact, take our land and kill us. The Islamic religion is tolerated and welcomed in the West, while simultaneously Islamic religious and cultural doctrine is antithetical to the West.
The Islamic doctrine of Jihad cannot coexist with the Western notion of religious freedom. Our Western notion of tolerance allows the coexitence of Islam, but Islamic doctrine does not allow coexitence with the West, aside from complete dominance.
These truths about incompatibility between the West and Islam have nothing in common with American opposition to the Papacy being relocated to Cincinnati Ohio. One needs to be taken seriously, and the other did not.
What can we do?
I am thankful to be an American. But I am worried and I talk about my fears for the future with my friends. Because I read and I am not afraid to share what I have read (My current reads are “Cube and the Cathedral” and America Alone") I am often approached by friends to comment on recent headlines etc.
So whenever anyone asks “well, what can I do?” there are a series of potential answers. I challenge the entire blogosphere to take up this question and debate it.
My suggestions:
-ENLIST -If you are of age, enlist. (I just enlisted again as a reservist at the age of 34, it has been 12 years since I last served and the army is short on reserve officers at this time.)
-TEACH -If you are recently retired or thinking about returning to the workforce (a conservative mother who’s kids are in school, etc) then teach at a local high school. Take the schools back from the liberal brainwashers!
-BE FRUITFUL -Have more children. 2 to replace yourselves, one to replace a blue stater (see Mark Steyn’s “America Alone"), and one for America. Have a minimum of 4. Yes, you may have to sacrifice a little comfort, or retire a little later. So?
-LEAD -Run for local office or support someone who is. Most local political jobs are part-time. Start taking back our government from the career politicians who live on entitlement incumbency protections. Heinlein wrote a little-known book called “Take Back Your Government” that provides a simple, practical way to get politically involved.
-PRAY -Join a church community somewhere. Get involved. Pray. Start conversations about the challenges facing us. Step out of the way and listen.
So the next time someone asks, “What can I do?” Tell them.
I hope many of you can devote an entire post to this. I do not want to be the message, so if you choose to take this challenge, please just make this list your own, or quote me without a name.
In answer to the question whether Muslims will wait until their demographic tsunami has swept all Europe before it, I think the answer, on the evidence, is no.
The “peaceful” arm of Jihad, working to impose Sharia through manipulation of the West’s democratic and legislative processes and public opinion, is in full cry. Just look at daily events in England and even in the U.S., where some Imams are staging a “pray-in” at National Airport today calling for an apology from American airlines in the praying Imam case and the end to “racial profiling of Muslims” in America and note also the recent attempts by Sudanese cab drivers to implement Sharia law at the airport in Minnesota.
Eventually, Muslim’s demands are going to get so all-encompassing, insistent and brazen that this whole schtick will backfire and result in increased scrutiny and real repression of Muslims.
I am attributing this to Wretchard on Belmont Club who says that Communism and Islam force us into the dark place where we have to choose between our souls and our lives.
I know I am twisting the sense of this but I think that the West will be giving up life because it has no soul left to save.
